About us
Who we are and what we do
Dr Francesco Iacoviello is the Experimental Manager in the UCL Centre for Correlative X-ray Microscopy, part of the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCL.
Dr Iacoviello joined UCL in 2014, where his research broadly encompasses the multi-scale X-ray Computed Tomography characterisation of a different array of materials, from electrochemical devices such as batteries, fuels cells and electrolysers to geomaterials such as shale gas rock and carbon capture and storage systems.
Most recently he was successful as Co-Investigator for the National Research Facility for X-ray Computed Tomography (NXCT), of which UCL is the electrochemical and phase contrast spoke (EP/T02593X/1), as well as for the Core Capital for NXCT facility 2022 (EP/X034941/1) and the Capital Equipment in Support of the National Research Facility for Lab X-ray CT (EP/V035932/1) grants.
In October 2025, still as Co-I, he was successful for the NXCT II EPSRC grant (UKRI3067: National Research Facility in Lab X-ray CT (NXCT II), acting as Co-Director of the UCL-EIL Facility.
